Meet and Greet with the City of Los Angeles Chief Design Officer Chris Hawthorne

  • 601 West 5th Street, 5th Floor Los Angeles, CA 90071 USA (map)

470 square miles. Nearly 4 million people. $1.2 billion to house the homeless. The 2028 Olympics. And 1 Chief Design Officer.  No pressure.

Earlier this year, Mayor Garcetti lured away long-time Los Angeles Times Architecture Critic Christopher Hawthorne to become the City’s first Chief Design Officer. Which means what exactly?  Well, it’s been almost six months, so it’s time to find out. On September 20, ULI-LA is pleased to host a Meet and Greet Event with Christopher Hawthorne to hear about how his new role is unfolding, and where he thinks he’ll be contributing to our urban fabric in the years ahead. Mr. Hawthorne will also discuss with us how it feels to go from being the observer to becoming the observed.

We will be hearing from Mr. Hawthorne at the cool and attractive new offices of Jerde, a perfectly appropriate mix of the old and the new, particularly for this speaker. Located right in the heart of downtown, if you have not seen this space, it is reason enough to attend.
