Climate change is the most profound issue of our time and in California we are witnessing the increasingly devastating impacts on our forests, homes, and access to water every year. We hope that these resources will help you learn more about the issue not only at home but also throughout the world. Above all, these resources reflect the importance of large-scale social, political, and economic action to address climate change. lOCAL PUBLIC POLICY

City of lA department of public works Climate Emergency Mobilization Office

Guided by the principles of environmental justice, the office coordinates with the Mayor and City Council, and collaborates with City departments through meaningful engagement with frontline leaders and their communities. The activation of a community-led Climate Emergency Commission (CEC), ongoing community assemblies and virtual events, and broad public mobilization will be key to the effective implementation of equitable and just climate policies and execution of LA’s Green New Deal.

A public program designed to generate and increase community involvement in planning a sustainable water future for California.

Take the survey in English or Spanish to provide input on community needs and priorities, which will inform how public funds are distributed across our region.

Neighborhood Council Sustainability Alliance (NCSA)

Advances sustainability and resilience across Los Angeles through advocacy, sharing of best practices, and community action. NCSA is partnering with the Climate Emergency Mobilization Office to bring Cool Blocks to LA and to bring people together to create the neighborhoods we want to live in. Cool Blocks LA uses a proven neighbor-to-neighbor model that has helped thousands of people make their neighborhoods safer and healthier, prepare for disasters, save money, and lighten their environmental impact.

Has three main activities: distributes fresh water to the unhoused population of Los Angeles; raises awareness on areas of systemic homelessness and everyone's right to water access; and seeks to create and advocate for longer lasting solutions to combat water shortage.

A soon to be charity which offers individuals, schools, and businesses the opportunity to offset their carbon footprints by supporting climate action projects that affect change on a local and global scale.
